Grandma put on her apron to make snickerdoodles, so Bryce walked over and pointed to her rack of aprons, insisting that he get one too. She is already planning to make one just his size.
For those who may not know, my mom's camp name is Snickerdoodle, and let's just say she felt the obligation to be the best at making them. And she does, make the best snickerdoodles.
Bryce was a great little helper. he stirred, and rolled the dough balls in sugar, and then poked them all with his cute little finger.

Delicious cookies for Grandma and for Bryce.
Mmmmm...

Normally I'd be sad to not have a picture...
...But in this case, you can all thank me for not having a camera handy to capture my son's poop.
Bryce is a funny kid. He likes to stash things in special little places. So far those places have included the gap between the fridge and the wall, his toy chest, the cubby spot in his car seat... All very predictable places. But today I found his new favorite place. The aroma of stinky poo led us to a diaper change. Naturally... But then As I pulled the diaper back I discovered one of my earrings. Yuck. Not just a little one, probably my biggest pair gooshed and smothered in stinky poo. Yuck, Yuck, Yuck! I knew he had gotten into them and had been playing with them, I just never expected him to stash them in his pants.

Luau!
Thanks to our good neighbors, Bryce had the perfect outfit for the Luau we went to Friday night. He ended up liking the shorts better as a hat, nevertheless, he looked great!
Oh yes, and it was freezing! Not really, but for August weather, you may as well say it was!
The view from the roasting area. And the last of the three pictures we took all evening. Oh well. The fire dancing was pretty cool... youtube it... I'm sure you'll find something.
Visiting Swimming!
Every so often, Aleena and I like to switch things up for visiting teaching, and last month we got together for an afternoon of swimming. During the summer when kids are all home, it was a great way to spend the afternoon. Bryce didn't love the water at first. We're working hard to get him more comfortable... It's a little tricky without a pool of our own, but with more and more exposure, I think he'll learn to love it soon. Even that afternoon, he wasn't crazy about being in the water at first, but once his clothes were on and we were heading out, all he wanted was to be in the water.
I love the visiting teaching program. Life gets so busy, and I am so grateful Heavenly Father gave us this inspired program that reminds us to sit down for a minute and enjoy time with friends. It's kinda too bad we need that reminder, but I truly am thankful for the women I have met, for the love I have felt, and for my wonderful VT companion. Aleena is so wonderful... She does so much for me, that I sometimes feel like she is my visiting teacher.
I hope she knows how much I love and appreciate her.

I love summer time...
This summer has been a bit chilly, yet we have still been able to enjoy the fruits and flowers of the season. Our backyard is coming along... little by little... When the kitchen project is needing a break. So now,in the middle of our perimeter of weeds, we have a lot of grass, a bit of bark, and some colorful splashes of flowers.
Even just the little we've done, has made our backyard so much happier.
The happiest part, though, is the produce we get to grow in our very own space. This summer we've enjoyed apricots, pears, peaches, and tomatoes! The goal for next year: give the backyard more attention, enough at least, to make space for a full vegetable garden.
